They Were Not Soldiers

This curated project shares photographs and personal perspectives from the Ukrainian front lines, focusing on the lived experiences of those often reduced to a single label. Through their own images, it explores how fathers, daughters, and ordinary people cope, survive, and hold onto humanity in extraordinary circumstances.

I Had No Clue, So I asked…

“These are photos of a burned American Hummer – a Humvee. We have several Humvees in service, and many other brigades have them as well.

We cover them with special netting so that a drone does not hit the armor directly and penetrate it immediately. And every time, during every trip to combat positions, we see a lot of burned-out vehicles.

Some people survive. Others may die or be killed before they even reach the position.

It is not always possible to take photos like this, but I will share such photos with you so people can understand how the orcs are trying to stop us, what price we pay to reach our firing positions, what price we pay to carry out combat missions, and what price we pay to hold the front line.
And it is important to remember that this has been going on for four years now. The guys who are still in the unit have already been fighting for the fifth year.”
