They Were Not Soldiers

This curated project shares photographs and personal perspectives from the Ukrainian front lines, focusing on the lived experiences of those often reduced to a single label. Through their own images, it explores how fathers, daughters, and ordinary people cope, survive, and hold onto humanity in extraordinary circumstances.

Pokrovsk in 2026

These are truly horrifying images.

The city is almost completely destroyed. There is not a single intact building left. Everything is ruined. Everything is gone.

This is what the “ruzzian world” brings.
This is what a city looks like now – a city that, just a year and a half ago, was still alive, thriving, full of people and normal civilian life.

Now it looks like this.

But Ukrainian Armed Forces reconnaissance continues to work, even behind enemy lines – identifying enemy positions so they can be effectively destroyed.

Glory to Ukraine.💪🫡⚔️🇺🇦
